YouTube Outlier Checker

Compare a video’s views with the channel’s typical video views to see whether it may be an outlier.

An outlier is a video that performs much better than most other videos on the same channel.

This is a quick estimate based on the numbers you enter. It does not automatically analyze the channel’s full video history.

Estimate whether a video is an outlier

Enter the video’s views, the channel’s typical views, and the number of days since it was published.

Check 5–10 recent videos in a similar format and enter a rough middle value. If they received 2,000, 2,500, 3,000, 3,200, and 8,000 views, enter about 3,000—not 8,000.

What is a YouTube outlier video?

A YouTube outlier is a video that performs much better than most other videos on the same channel.

How do you calculate whether a video is an outlier?

Divide the video’s views by the typical views for similar recent videos on that channel.

What should I use for typical channel views?

Use a rough middle value from 5–10 recent videos in a similar format. Do not let one unusually large video distort the typical range.

Should I compare Shorts with long-form videos?

No. Compare videos with similar formats because Shorts and long-form videos often have very different viewing patterns.

Does an outlier mean I should copy the topic?

No. An outlier is evidence, not an instruction to copy. Study the repeatable pattern and then check whether it fits your channel.

Why can an outlier be misleading?

Timing, packaging, audience relevance, one-off events, and format differences can all affect views.
